Barnard Castle

Photographs of Barnard Castle. Situated on the banks of the River Tees, the market town of Barnard Castle is located on the site of an ancient Roman ford across the river. The remains of the castle, which was built in the early 12th century, still tower over the river.

Barnard Castle is proud of its cobbled streets, yards and back lanes first laid out in the 12th century.
