Photographs of the Hartwell Tavern Battle Reenactment held on Patriots' Day, 2003.

This ceremony commemorates the eight British Regulars who gave their lives at the Hartwell Tavern.

The British Regulars where ambushed by the Woburn militia and lost eight dead.

On April 19 of each year since 1775, the citizens of Massachusetts and Maine celebrate Patriots' Day.

They commemorate the battles at Lexington Green and Old North Bridge in Concord, MA, commonly viewed as the start of the Revolutionary War and the battle by the American colonists for their independence and freedom from the tyranny of King George of Britain.

We trust in God that, should the state of our affairs require it, we shall be ready to sacrifice our estates and everything dear in life, yea, and life itself, in support of the common cause.

-- Oath taken by every member of the Lexington Minute Men since the Company was first mustered in December, 1773.
