To start The Shortest Day I headed as far east as I could get to a place called South Gare at the mouth of the River Tees.

Before the sun came up I was able to explore industrial landscape at the mouth of the river.

Then I moved to capturing the sunrise it self.

The views show the sun rising over the distant town of Redcar in East Cleveland.

I also managed to photograph some of the ships coming into the river mouth.
