Green Goddesses, Breathing Apparatus Rescue Teams (BART) and the Rescue Equipment Support Teams (REST) where stationed at strategic points throughout the country.

The Bedford Self-Propelled Pump, also known as the Green Goddess, was built between 1953-6 and is fitted with a water pump capable of feeding four hose-lines with 900 gallons of water per minute.
