Admiral Bertram Ramsey was the naval chief in Dover and organized the evacuation of 335.000 men from Dunkerque.

He planed the amphibious operations in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.

On January 2nd 1945 Sir Bertram Ramsey were among those who died when a Lockheed Hudson climbed, banked, and dived into the ground on taking off from Toussus-le-Noble en route to Brussels, Belgium.
