Pictures of London Traffic Congestion.
Traffic was reduced to a virtual standstill in Central London when a rush-hour road traffic accident closed Waterloo Bridge, causing one of the worst jams in 2001.
A motorbike, a van and a taxi were involved in a collision on the bridge shortly after 8am.
The London Air Ambulance landed on the South Bank.
Thousands of drivers were forced to sit in queues stretching along Aldwych, the Strand, Pall Mall and Embankment on the north side. Similarly heavy traffic was seen on all major roads in Waterloo, Southwark, Lambeth and Elephant and Castle.
