Picture of a replica of William Hedley's Puffing Billy steam locomotive designed for Wylam Colliery in 1813 and recreated in 2006 at The North of England Open Air Museum, Beamish.
The locomotive regular worked trains of 50 tons at upto 5mph for 48years, although it was extensively modified throughout its working life.
Puffing Billy has the honour of being the oldest preserved locomotive in the world and is on permanent display in the Science Museum London.
