Picture of council workers on strike over pensions taken on Tyneside.
More than one million council workers went on strike over pensions, closing schools, libraries and sports centres across the UK on the 28th March 2006.
The strike was over plans to scrap a rule allowing some people to retire on a full pension at 60, which the government says is discriminatory.
At the centre of the dispute was the so-called Rule of 85 - which allows council employees to retire on full pensions at 60, provided their age and years of service add up to 85.
